Local information security organisation, NEWORDER Group of Companies, has recently been approved as one of the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants' (EC-Council) Accredited Training Partners, and can now offer the EC-Council's catalogue of world-class courses to South African IT professionals, via its NEWORDER Training Academy.
NEWORDER Training Academy's principal motivator behind seeking this partnership with EC-Council relates to the impending global information security skills meltdown, which was identified by analysts and brought to industry attention last year. Through offering local IT professionals a range of information security-related training opportunities, the academy hopes to not only address the current worldwide skills dilemma, but to possibly even boost SA economic potential as a lucrative and sought-after skills outsourcing destination.
"The country's ever-widening general IT skills gap has been viewed with increasing complacency by the industry each passing year, and not surprisingly, since the issue was first brought to light more than a decade ago," remarks NEWORDER's Group CEO, Marthinus Engelbrecht. "The global information security skills famine, although a negative development by nature, places SA more on par with the international technology industries, since a lack of adequate skills is now something affecting us all."
It is from this shared skilled shortage perspective, Engelbrecht believes, that SA stands only to gain, while our first-world counterparts will be the ones more markedly affected by a sense of urgency and loss. "We must embrace every opportunity to emerge advantageous from this so-called "global tragedy", and as such, NEWORDER Training Academy has secured the ideal platform from which to do so," he says.
The EC-Council is considered the world leader in information security training and certifications, and is the owner and developer of the world-famous EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) programme. CEH is the ideal course to address the looming security skills shortage with urgency, since it is offered as a self-learning course and instructor-led training. It is touted as the world's most advanced ethical hacking programme and certified members can expect their certification to bear the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) stamp of quality.
Besides the CEH programme, other training programmes and certifications on offer include Hacking Forensics Investigator; Certified Security Analyst; and License Penetration Tester. The EC-Council has developed security training and certification programmes for every level of information security professional, and programmes are developed with respected subject matter experts from all disciplines of information security including ethical hacking, forensics, penetration testing, executive information security management, coding, incident handling, disaster recovery, project management, and many more.
"We are very proud to have been granted Accredited Training Partner status with the EC-Council, since the screening criteria is very stringent. However, the NEWORDER brand's reputation as a world-class information security company, and the fact that many of our team members are already EC-Council certified, made the approval process happen smoothly and without setbacks."
